Restoration is now underway at the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant in Lancaster County. A fire caused significant damage there in January. But it's back in business thanks to the generosity of a neighbor.'I was just devastated. I was absolutely devastated. I couldn't believe it,' Bird-in-Hand employee Darryl Hassler said.Hassler was heartbroken after the fire at the restaurant where he'd worked for more than two decades.
It was like a blessing from heaven that you felt so good. We have someplace to go,' Hassler said.'It's just these God winks that we're here for them and they can keep their employees. They can keep the business, tourism in Lancaster County alive. It's a benefit for all of us,' said Tina Edgell, with Revere Tavern.Bird-in-Hand is also planning to move its live theatre productions to the tavern.
