It was reported earlier in the week that Microsoft will be holding an event before Build 2024 featuring 'consumer versions of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6'. This suggested that the company is clearly segregating said devices to consumer and business types, the former using Qualcomm chips while the latter uses Intel's. With the official launch of the latter now behind us, the distinction is basically confirmed.
Looking at the software features being highlighted as part of the launch video, it makes sense. Microsoft is taking most of the spotlight away from its Copilot generative AI tool, and onto features like security, cloud PC and management controls via Intune. For the Surface Pro 10, some models even feature an NFC card reader. As for the 15-inch Surface Laptop 6, some variants even come with a smart card reader, instead of, you know, an SD card reader.
