The Lancaster County property has been sold to a developer, but the family is leasing it for at least 15 years.

Oregon Dairy’s owners have sold the site of the market and restaurant to a group of local developers, but third- and fourth-generation family members plan to continue operating the business while leasing the property for at least 15 years.

“Our decision to sell to the Horst family is due to our long-term relationship with them. They are good people, and we understand the quality of their products, and we trust they will continue to have a positive influence on our community. Heck, most of their children worked at Oregon Dairy over the years and they are still frequent customers at our store,” Vic Hurst wrote in a statement.

Earlier this year they sold Oregon Dairy Inc., the company that operates the market, which dates to 1974, to George Hurst’s daughter Krista Martin, her son Konrad, and Willie’s son, Jon Hurst. They are the third- and fourth-generation owners of the market started by Earl and Mary Hurst. The Hurst family plans to continue its annual family farm days at their farm, located a mile south of the market at 2870 Oregon Pike.
