made presentations to town council in June 2023 and January 2024, requesting land near the Credit Union Rec Complex to build the 270- by 120-foot facility. Councillors requested staff look at other municipally owned properties in town.
The 10.5-acre business park site is located between Donald E. Hiltz Connector Road and Chipman Drive. It is visible from Highway 101 and less than two kilometres from Exit 14. Staff reviewed 13 potential sites. The other 12 were the parking lot beside the rec complex, extension to the rec complex, Field 4 next to the rec complex, bantam baseball and softball fields, tennis court/tennis building/little league field, a site on the Donald E. Hiltz Connector Road, Kings County Academy playground and soccer field, soccer field 1 and 2 at KCA, Oakdene Park fields, Burgher Hill, provincial land downtown and private land.
Maxwell said building in the business park would take away spinoffs for the town. The business park is located in the west of town, close to Coldbrook.
