Homes For Sale,Selling,Buying

Today Northeast Arkansas News spoke to one person who is selling their home and what it is like.

Have you looked into buying or selling your home recently? Summertime is when the most homes are listed for sale. “When we met with our realtor, she was confident that this was the best time to be on the market," said Sam Chester.

Just behind me are dozens of homes currently under construction for a community here in Jonesboro. Now I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I am a housing expert and know exactly what the market is doing but I can tell you what you may see if you’re looking to purchase or sell your home. Sam Chester is a homeowner who put his house on the market in May. He spoke with us about preparing the house to be sold. “It’s a lot of keeping your home clean to an absurd level because you never really know when a stranger is going to walk into your home and be judging every minute detail of it”.

According to Zillow.com there are nearly 400 homes for sale in the Jonesboro area, what does this mean as far as who’s looking to move in and out at this time of the year. “People are getting out of school, now is the time when people are moving cities, during the summertime, now is the time, especially families because we have a four-bedroom house, now is the time when people are looking for your type of house are going to be buying a house," Chester said.

The median listing price in Jonesboro is $259,000 while the median sale price is $201,000. These are both just a few thousand dollars less than the state average. “The suggested listing price was a little bit higher than I was expecting, it would make us make a little bit more money off the sell than I was anticipating," Chester told us.
