Mthatha

Three other people were injured and taken to a hospital near Mthatha.

Four people have been killed in a collision between a car and a bakkie on the N2 near Qweqwe outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.

Provincial transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the deceased, two men and two women, were all traveling in the car. Three other people, including the driver of the bakkie, were injured and taken to a hospital near Mthatha.“This now takes the number of fatalities to six on our roads from two separate accidents in the past 12 hours. MEC for Transport in the Eastern Cape, Xolile Nqatha, is calling on all road users to be extra vigilant on our roads and help us avoid crashes like the ones we are seeing in so many road accidents.

“The message of road safety can never get old for as long as there are still people who are using roads, so we are appealing to you to be extra vigilant,” adds Binqose. – Any cookies that may not be particularly necessary for the website to function and is used specifically to collect user personal data via analytics, ads, other embedded contents are termed as non-necessary cookies.
