Motorists are urged to be on the lookout for fallen trees and poles while driving.

Motorists in the Eastern Cape have been warned to be extra cautious and avoid being on the road if possible. This follows a level 6 strong winds warning issued by theWind started gusting last night in some parts of the province, and no damages have been reported so far, however, motorists are urged to be on the lookout for fallen trees and poles while driving.

Provincial transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose says, “We have seen a phenomenon like this exactly a month ago, and unfortunately there were some fatalities. “I remember an accident that happened on the 11th of July on the N6, where strong winds blew over a vehicle. Unfortunately, people died in that accident and I wish not to get on the airwaves and report about anything remotely close to that. It is for that reason that we are urging you as a road user to be extra vigilant and if possible rather stay at home and avoid being on the roads altogether,” Binqose says.
