ATM leader Vuyo Zungula says government should take the lead from police in KZN.

James was participating in the debate in the National Assembly on Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s statement, where he outlined how police are dealing with extortion.

“The issues of extortion in our country have spiraled dangerously out of control, becoming a crisis that strikes at the core of our economy and our society. This isn’t just about crime. It’s about government’s inability to serve and protect our communities and our businesses. Extortion rackets have spread like cancer, threatening our economy, destroying businesses, business confidence and terrorising our communities.

ATM leader Vuyo Zungula says government should take the lead from police in KwaZulu-Natal on how to deal with acts of extortion and other crimes. “Minister extortionists are brazen criminals who have got no regard for law abiding citizens. They target everyone, including the poor and vulnerable in our society. The national government needs to follow the lead of the KZN police in dealing decisively with criminals. The KZN police has shown the country the type of attitude we need to have towards criminals. There must be a no-nonsense approach. People all over the country appreciate and support the work that is done by the police in KZN.
