The National Professional Teachers’ Organisation of South Africa in KwaZulu-Natal says engagements are ongoing with Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube, in finding alternatives to the budget cuts announced by National Treasury for the department.
Government has agreed to a 7.5% wage increase for teachers and other public servants for 2023/2024, but did not increase provincial budgets accordingly.Moodley says the union will not entertain any conversation about cutting of posts.
