Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane to visit the families of 18 people killed in Lusikisiki.

Eastern Cape Provincial Government Spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie says psychosocial support has been provided to the survivors.

Rantjie says, “The provincial government has activated all spheres of government and civil society in engaging the affected families towards coordinating funeral arrangements. The South African police services has deployed specialist investigators to investigate this incident and as provincial government, we are confident that these teams will do their work thoroughly and bring to book the perpetrators of this violent murder.

Contralesa President, Kgosi Mathupa Mokoena says many South African citizens are calling for the referendum on the death penalty. Mokoena says, “Contralesa condemns the mass killing of eighteen people at Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape. It is clear that South African citizens are on their own. The rule of law has been eroded. Contralesa is not surprised why so many South African citizens are calling for the referendum on the death penalty.
