Limpopo Social Development closes down a private facility for mental health patients.

The Limpopo Department of Social Development has closed the Vutlharhi Disability and Old Age Centre in Sekgosese, near Louis Trichardt, citing alleged non-compliance with health and safety standards.

The centre has faced controversy following the circulation of videos on social media alleging deaths, abuse, and neglect of mental health patients. “Mr Baloyi will have to work with us to help us identify the family members and work with social workers and our department of social development we will follow up on the matter we will also make sure that patients who don’t have relatives of those who whose relatives are unable to take care of them we have many centres in the province Limpopo meant for people like this one…” Radzilani says.
