The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. expects the local automotive industry to sell 500,000 vehicles this year.CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez said the industry’s robust performance and a series of new product launches in the fourth quarter boosted expectations.

He said while imported vehicles continued to dominate total sales, local assembly still accounted for 30 percent of total sales, led by Toyota’s Vios and Innova models. CAMPI said while some EV models like Lexus offer home charging solutions, public charging stations are crucial for widespread EV adoption.

CAMPI acknowledges the potential for more battery-electric vehicles in the Philippine market, but emphasizes the importance of a gradual transition.
