The party delivered a memorandum of demands to the Ministry citing austerity measures and unemployment as concerns. SACP General-Secretary Solly Mapaila say, “We want to relieve the poor for instance implement the Social Relief of Distress Grant as a universal basic income and multiply it so that it can be above the basic poverty line and in that way it’s a direct action to the poor.

It gives something to the poor so that it can buy bread because essentially that thing is also an inside it’s an important thing. We need it to be properly implemented in that person’s life so that they don’t live with indignity and in poverty.” Any cookies that may not be particularly necessary for the website to function and is used specifically to collect user personal data via analytics, ads, other embedded contents are termed as non-necessary cookies.
