Lead investigating officer Bongani Gininda says there are no blood nor witness statements stating that Longwe Twala was injured when Senzo Meyiwa was murdered.
Twala was one of those present at Kelly Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand in 2014 when Meyiwa was shot and killed.Defence counsel Advocate Thulani Mngomezulu made the assertion that Longwe Twala allegedly pulled the trigger and fired the bullet that killed the Bafana Bafana captain.
Advocate Mngomezulu went on to say that Twala was injured by one of the bullets and went to a medical facility to assistance with his wound.“We would have expected some form of blood left there or at least someone, My Lord, would have said in a form of a statement that they have seen Mr Longwe injured, My Lord. Even on the same day of the incident, My Lord, there is no statement in the docket of anybody who says Mr Longwe was shot, be it by himself or by any other person,” adds Gininda.
