ELECTRIC VEHICLES,CLASSIC CARS,EV CONVERSIONS

Despite Ultima's decision to avoid entering the electric vehicle market, a Tesla-powered EV conversion has been successfully created by RSE. This showcases the ever-growing trend of electric conversions for classic cars, even those considered precious and irreplaceable.

Ultima has ruled out offering an EV for now, but that didn't stop the Tesla-powered RSE from being built...

Whether you agree with it or not, there are several rationales for subjecting something classic-shaped to a transplant. Less logical is the morbid curiosity - I could never personally do that to a car both out of respect to its heritage and a fear of being put on some kind of PH hit list - but it’s vaguely intriguing to see an EV enthusiast bring something different to the table.

Admittedly, the RSE can’t match the power nor the volume of the top-line RS, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t give it a run for its money. It’s powered by a Tesla ‘Large Drive Unit’ with custom twin cooling loops and numerous software tweaks for a total output of 680hp. Off the line, it’ll hit 60mph in just 2.1 seconds, 100mph in 4.6 seconds and then get back to a standstill in 3.1 seconds. And it’s not that heavy, either.
