A family claims they bought the UK's 'most expensive hotdogs ever' at a Christmas market after being charged more than £600 for two sausages. Laura Brumpton, 34, and her husband Alan Brumpton, 37, took their two kids to enjoy festive markets in Nottingham last week and treated them to two hotdogs. However, Alan tapped his phone on the card machine without checking the amount - so the couple were 'shocked' to realise he had forked out £618 instead of the £18 owed.
The 'apologetic' vendor said she was refunding the couple £600 - but Laura says it's yet to land in Alan's bank account. Taking to TikTok, the mum shared video footage of the hotdog stand owner refunding her husband captioned 'imagine this though', which has now gone viral with over four million views. In the clip you can hear the vendor saying 'refunded £600. I'm so sorry' before Laura holds the receipt showing how they were billed the astonishing sum. Many users commented that Alan should have received a full refund because of the 'inconvenience' while one user joked that it was a 'bargain' at the Christmas markets. Other users warned to 'always check' the card reader before paying. Laura, who lives in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, said: 'They were the most expensive hotdogs ever. I was very shocked. I just couldn't believe it. £18 just for two hotdogs is a lot of money as well. 'My husband just got his phone on apple pay and just tapped it. I don't even know if he looked at it. Just a habit of tap and she was like 'oh my god, I'm sorry'. It was £618. He checked his bank and it went straight away. I thought it would bounce straight away. I did think there was a £100 limit. 'I jokingly said 'does that mean we get free sausages for the rest of the year'. I thought 'if I don't laugh about it…'' The mum-of-two revealed the vendor promised to refund the money after she realised her mistake but is still waiting for the money to reach his accoun
