Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Bancroft are warning drivers about a fake tow truck company that charges high fees but never shows up. Drivers have reported making significant credit card payments over the phone before being abandoned or encountering legitimate local companies who were either paid a small percentage by the scammers or forced to charge for their services. Police advise drivers to be aware of their rights before calling a tow company.
