APPLE,INVESTMENT,INDONESIA

Indonesia lifted the ban on sales of the iPhone 16 model after Apple agreed to invest US$1 billion in the country to meet local manufacturing requirements.

Indonesia has lifted the ban on the sale of the iPhone 16 model after Apple agreed to invest US$1 billion in the country. The ban was imposed in October because Apple failed to meet local investment regulations requiring that 40 percent of phones be made from local parts. Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani told reporters that Apple is fully committed to the investment.

The company will set up a factory in the Batam industrial zone to produce AirTags, which will meet 65 percent of global demand. However, the sale ban on the iPhone 16 was lifted as Apple agreed to invest in the country. Indonesia also banned the sale of Google Pixel phones for failing to meet the 40 percent parts requirement
