Deputy minister Hannah Yeoh says women need the support of their husbands when giving birth.

Hannah Yeoh, deputy minister for Women, Family and Community Development, said the paternity leave proposed by the Ministry of Human Resources should be implemented as men need to play a role to ease the burden of mothers who have just given birth. “If they have other children to be taken care of, of course the mother will not able to handle alone. Thus, employers need to consider the matter because of the family, it is important wives who have newly given birth have the support of their husbands,” she said.

Deputy Human Resources Minister Mahfuz Omar said the draft amendment was being completed and would be submitted to the Cabinet before being tabled in Parliament.

Women who have given birth need the support from their husbands minimum 1 month. Speaking based on experience.

hannahyeoh Love this YB Hannah. Maybe hannahyeoh for PM8?

hannahyeoh 3 days would be an important step but far not enough. It takes time for a man to become a good parent. Spending fist days with child is a key for the long-life bond. As a father I know well how proper paternity leave shaped me as a father. A week minimum for now. A month a target

Sure can, and all male employees will get 3 days pay cut starting next year.

Ruben_E_G hannahyeoh 3 days is a right step but honestly it's nothing. And it's also not just about giving the woman support but for the dad to bond with his new born...

hannahyeoh better convince the slave driver of the 70s who asserts MY must remain competitive labourers to this day. He seems more silent on this issue compared to advocating/ defending ZN, Palestinian, AzminAli & the list goes on. mkula pakatanharapan_ PPBMofficial
