“The truth remains that the major causes of the unemployment among these vibrant youths is lack of skill to back up what they learnt from their institutions of learning.” Nigeria Unemployment Employment

To boost productivity among Nigerian youths and help reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country, the Redeemed Christian Church of God , Overcomers Zone, Abule Egba, Lagos has commenced an empowerment training and skill acquisition programme for young people in the community.

The focus of the training includes tailoring and fashion designing, cosmetology, decorations and events management among others. Speaking on the initiative, the Zonal Pastor, Afolabi Simeon decried the high rate of unemployed graduates in the country. He blamed the situation on the country’s long system of education that is more of grammar and not much practical learning.

“The truth remains that the major causes of the unemployment among these vibrant youths is lack of skill to back up what they learnt from their institutions of learning. When these graduates were still in school, they did not border to learn at least one single skill, maybe that which is related to graphic designing, typing, hair dressing, electrical maintenance and others. If they have learnt any skill at all, the rate of unemployment will reduce among them.

It is deceptive to believe that lack of skills is the reason youths aren't getting employed, it is the lack of the grown and elderly ones to understand when it is time to be retired and let the younger, stronger and energized generations to work and be financially free.
