Business lobby group CBI have issued a stark warning over the impact on industry if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

The CBI says 24 of 27 areas of the UK economy would experience disruption if there was a no-deal Brexit, saying:"While the UK's preparations to date are welcome, the unprecedented nature of Brexit means some aspects cannot be mitigated."Importers will need special licences to operate as a non-EU based company. If those licences aren't in place before the UK leaves the EU, the companies could find themselves"locked out" of European markets for up to four months.

Tom Pell, owner of Birmingham's first zero waste supermarket called The Clean Kilo, sells unpackaged and mainly organic goods to customer who bring their own containers. He said:"It would be difficult for us to compete with the large supermarkets and discounters who can stockpile products. And if our suppliers have to increase prices because of red tape or supply problems, we'd have little choice but to pass that on to our customers.

His partner, Jeanette Wong, also fears that if costs go up too much, their loyal customer base might be forced to compromise their morals and buy less ethically sourced and more environmentally damaging, but ultimately cheaper products. It is now"working on the assumption" the UK will leave the EU without a deal, according to Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove.

Mr Gove, who has been tasked by new Prime Minister Boris Johnson with boosting preparations for a no-deal Brexit, wrote in The Sunday Times that this scenario is now a"very real prospect".

Only had 3 years to prepare..ffs

Fear tactics yet again

Bloody joke..

Why would we care if the EU is ready for no deal? they are NOT our problem when we leave. Hopefully other countries will start the degradation of the EU once they see it’s not as bad as they. made out.

More doom and gloom, from sky news, keep it up,nobody is listening.

I’ll give some advice for free. Go back to the EEC model. There, that’s just saved you billions.

Bollocks. The uk will be ready.

If they can not work out how WTO works after having 3 years to prepare. Then they might be better finding something a bit easier to do.

And so the anti Brexit campaign continues. It would be nice if you did your job properly and gave a balanced unbiased view instead of this constant Brexit bashing. 😴

Stop whinging and get on with it. You have had it easy for to long. Thats the problem with business. For years they preach to employees change is good then they cant be arsed doing it themselves.

The amount of sovereignty given away to EU must be staggering if preparing to leave costs this much😳?

Scaremongers! It has only just become clear that we are actually leaving.

CBI is part EU-funded and is an EU lapdog cbicarolyn CBItweets . Looking forward to seeing how the CBI handles the UK being outside the EU. Will it explode? Or will it just step into line and make the best of it like everyone else.

You've lost. Give it up. 😉

CBI at it again with predictions of doom and Gloom. Carolyn Fairbairn was caught out again by Nick Ferrari on LBC last week casting her Wild Scaremongering Predictions. She has form for it. Andrew aneil did the same. Bullshit Predictions to assist the EU.

All nonesense

Those offended by pubic £££ wasted on the garden bridge, water cannons and Grayling's non-existent ships can be confident that THE most amazing sums of money are about to be disbursed in our name to prepare for an event that any sane person would wish to avoid. TellUsWhatItCost

This would be the fault of a remain PM, Chancellor and parliament. Fortunately, they have gone and we now have a chance to put things right.

They have to unravel 50 years. That is not an easy task so good luck.

More scaremongering from the CBI.

Well they've had 3 years and done nowt. Perhaps they should have, especially after the WA agreement got 3 nos.

Not all businesses.. don’t include mine in your rhetoric... we will be delighted if we leave without a deal and on WTO terms... I think every other British owned construction manufacturing contractor will be delighted... our chance to fight back against the EU influx!!

Thanks Britain 👍

When we voted in Referendum back in 2016 no one knew what actually we were voting on. There was hardly any information to go on. I know I regret the way I voted back then. All of Today's MPs have no idea no matter which party they represent. UK is in utter turmoil.

In other news, turkeys don’t like Christmas....

That's possibly because 96% of UK businesses don't trade with the EU, the CBI are funded by the EU and many global businesses are fully prepared. Wait until corporation tax is slashed and watch EU business jump to the UK.

And who's fault is that. You the media, a weak May and her government an anti democratic parliament, a bullying EU and every single FBPE moron out there. Thankfully we now have a government and PM that look like they'll deliver.

But we will be by the 31/10/19

Very good

They just need to believe more.

What have you been doing then , wasted time I guess . Putting to much effort into stopping it these last 3 years.

And people still think it's a good idea. Deluded idiots.

SKY FEAR will never be ready

Turn it in sky news your getting boring now.

The CBI receives EU funding. A lot of the organisations it represents are owned by parent companies in the EU. Their 'warnings' are biased and should be considered as such

the CBI would say anything to try to thwart the result of the 2016 'peoples vote'

After three years the UK and EU should be very well prepared. Unfortunately they have been preparing and planning around withdrawal of article 50. instead of being determined to deliver on the democractic free and open long campaigned and debated parliamentary agreed referendum.

3 years to prepare no wonder some of these businesses go bust when the people who run them cannot ready them for an event that they know is happening.

Who cares what the eu funded CBI thinks? How many times has sly dragged this story out? The U.K. is leaving the eu - ACCEPT IT!

Well UK isn’t ready for no deal that’s for sure but the EU not ready? Interesting weren’t they saying how ready they were for a no deal for years now? Guess it’s not so rosey in the EU after all.

Then the uk and UK business should be ashamed. I don’t believe UK business is suicidal enough not to have had plans in place for some time. The Eu didn’t believe the threat and they will get hurt, But will the Dutch flower growers not be ready..I think not!

The CBI is yet to be right about anything.

CBI ..you're such a .. crying 'wolf' ..

You mean the remain supporting CBI

Well, they should have got their act together then, instead of relying on the remainers thwarting Brexit. Get cracking now CBI!

Best come up with a better deal then

Typical sky post

The CBI , an Organisation that doesn’t represent 92% of the business in this country being used by the remain lobby in the media yet again !

This is good. That means both sides will try harder for a deal.

YES THEY ARE!.

Hard to negotiate with someone who says nothing is negotiable

Oh yes we are!

Not sure what else UK can do, EU doesn't want to negotiate. Bad attitude to take, UK leaving EU will produce foreseeable consequences & UK looks prepared to exit without a deal. EU shouldn't have such a dismissive attitude, regret there will be.

Not to worry we'll just get an extension
