Investors poured £5.5bn into the UK tech sector in the first seven months of the year

Investors ploughed $6.7bn into the UK tech sector in the first seven months of the year, more than the whole of 2018, according to figures from the government's digital economy council.

The research by industry body Tech Nation and data company Dealroom also indicated that the UK has overtaken the US for the amount of investment per capita. The weakness of the pound is also likely to have made the sector a more attractive destination. The investment figure was 43% higher than the $4.7bn for the same period last year - but about 50% higher in sterling terms as the dollar has strengthened against the pound.Funding growth was driven by US and Asian investors pumping $3.
