BORIS JOHNSON’s decision to prorogue Parliament was deemed unlawful by a Scottish court yesterday, and a top lawyer has said the judiciary should stay out of political matters.

had misled the Queen when he “unlawfully” prorogued Parliament. Three judges accused the Prime Minister of suspending the Commons for the “improper purpose of stymying Parliament” and said Monday’s prorogation was “null and of no effect”. But Clive Thorne, a partner at international law firm McCarthy Denning, has hit out at the court’s decision and suggested the judiciary should not intervene in political matters.
