SEREMBAN: The Finance Ministry is prepared to consider a request from the Negri Sembilan government to set up a free trade zone in the sprawling Malaysian Vision Valley (MVV 2.0) new growth area, which is twice the size of Singapore.

said the state government should write in officially to enable the Federal authorities to consider this."But to allow us to do so, please write in formally so we can start the process," he said in a speech at the state DAP convention here Sunday .

"As you are aware, we do not have a huge seaport or a big airport in Negri Sembilan and all we have is land," he said. To be carried out over 30 years, it is expected to attract some RM294bil in investments till 2045 and will see the creation of some 600,000 jobs. The other five projects identified under phase one of the MVV2.0 were an integrated transportation terminal and downtown transit-oriented development , specialised and integrated logistics services , World Knowledge City , Biopolis and Wellness City and a tourism district and bird/river sanctuary .
