'I think a realistic projection for an electric plane is somewhere between 15 and 20 years,' says Elbers.

asked Pieter Elbers, CEO of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, when we might see electric planes used commercially.

"It's clear to see how far this sector has progressed," Elbers said, speaking to journalists on the 100th anniversary of the founding of KLM. "I don't believe, however, that the first electric planes will appear within the next five or six years."that it will develop in partnership with Wright Electric, Reuters reported. Last year, the airline was reportedly eyeing its Amsterdam-London route as one of the first to use the planes, with a target date of 2027.
