Finance Minister Lawrence Wong delivered his first budget statement, with the theme of “charting our new way forward together”. At the same time, the government also recognised the need for a “fairer and more inclusive society” where no one is left behind. The tax will increase to S$45 per tonne in 2026 and 2027, before reaching S$50 to S$80 per tonne by 2030.
