A diplomatic row is brewing between the US and South Africa at a time when stark geopolitical differences have caused the two strategic powers to drift apart in recent times.

This has caused the administration of President Joe Biden to press reset in Washington’s bilateral relations with Pretoria, carefully electing a benign approach in dealing with SA instead of the regular gung-ho diplomacy. As things stand, the High Court in Pretoria is expected to rule soon on the saga after the matter was heard in court at the beginning of the week. Judgement has been reserved.

The 22 Afghan nationals remain on the Zimbabwean side of Beitbridge border post whilst the SA government fight in the courts to deny them entry. Clayson Monyela, a senior official at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation also took to Twitter to decry “the legal ambush”. He wrote, “There’s 22 Afghans who rocked up at Beitbridge with tourists visas issued by Zambia and asking to enter SA as asylum seekers. We refused and now an American-based NGO has taken government to court. Surely, Zambia and America are options.

China’s economic muscle in Africa and across the world is a matter of grave concern to the US, whose global dominance is in jeopardy amid the rapidly-changing international relations.

Ramaphosa must stop shaking hands with this two dictator nations China and Russia and what are we gaining from them

I don't get it, Russia is loosing the war, u cannot be serious that Russia can take on the world super powers,Russia has lost about 200000 soldiers of which was not planned to date.Supporting Russia would therfore be a stubborn mistake that has very little to offer Comrades.

Forget about it SA is a land of honey and milk with it's rich minerals gold, diamond, platinum

Making unnecessary noises against Americans by SA will bring huge repercussions for SA. Americans have all th means to bring South Africa to size.Americans are the Masters of the global stage whether 1 likes it or not.the sooner these South Africans realize it the better

Nothing surprising there. They openly supported apartheid criminals. Mandela told them the mistake they make is to think their enemies should also be our enemies.
