In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index was up 0.7% at 32,098.40. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.2% to 7,037.90. Taiwan's Taiex gained 1.2%, while the SET in Bangkok edged 0.1% lower. Treasurys are seen as some of the safest investments possible, and when they pay higher yields, investors are less likely to pay high prices for stocks and other riskier investments.
