KUCHING: Business hours in Sarawak will be shortened by two hours from Tuesday (May 25) under tighter standard operating procedures (SOP) to curb the spread of Covid-19, says the state disaster management committee.

In a statement, it said all sectors would be allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm only, compared to the previous closing time of 10pm.

In addition, children aged 12 and below are not allowed in public places and crowded areas without a good reason. This comes as Sarawak reported 530 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths on Monday, taking the tally to 42,813 with 255 fatalities. The smaller Kuching zone now covers Kuching district and Samarahan division, while the three other zones are Serian , Lundu and Bau ."All movement between these four zones is allowed with a police permit for essential services, workers and emergency purposes.
