To apply another tech icon's maxim, in taking control of Twitter, Elon Musk is moving fast and breaking things.

Among the dozens who Musk enlisted specifically from Tesla are Director of Software Development Ashok Elluswamy, Director of Autopilot and TeslaBot Engineering Milan Kovac, Senior Director of Software Engineering Maha Virduhagiri, Senior Staff Technical Program Manager Pete Scheutzow, and Jake Nocon, who is part of Tesla’s surveillance unit.

Members of Musk’s inner circle and remaining Twitter senior executives — i.e. those who weren’t immediately fired Friday, upon the completion of the $44 billion purchase — huddled over the weekend,Reports — as yet unconfirmed — are that Musk might start by laying off 25% of Twitter’s 7,500 workforce in short order. But other estimates, one citing as a source Jared Birchall, the head of Musk’s family office, range as high as 50%.and elsewhere that he would move to make layoffs by Oct.
