Assistant attorney-general Makan Delrahim, head of the department’s anti-trust division, will announce a significant merger enforcement action on Friday, according to the justice department. T-Mobile, the third largest US wireless carrier, pursued the deal to seek scale to compete with bigger rivals Verizon Communications and AT&T.
