For the first time, the report expanded beyond third-party requests to include independent actions Reddit took around both general policy violations and the quarantining and removal of subreddits. In total, approximately 4.7% of all content created on Reddit in 2019 was removed by either admins or volunteer subreddit moderators .
For perspective, the report reflects a more than 300% increase in the absolute number of content removals over the prior year, likely a combination of both more aggressive enforcement and general user and content growth. In the past year, Reddit has been taking significant steps to clean up its platform for both users and advertisers.
