Government plans for gas to 'balance' Australia's energy as it shifts towards solar and wind power

The paper examined more than 140 technologies including hydrogen, renewables, biofuels and carbon capture and storage, which involves burying emissions underground.

"Flexible gas capacity will continue to play a crucial role in supporting variable renewable energy, alongside continuing growth in energy storage, demand management and innovative grid technologies as alternatives," it said. The document said Australia was well placed to develop a major hydrogen export sector and reinforced a previously announced goal of producing it at below $2 per kilogram, the point at which it said it would become competitive.

The minister said a long-term emissions reduction strategy would then be released ahead of the COP26 climate talks, which were postponed due to COVID-19.The Government has faced pressure to adopt a target of achieving zero net emissions by 2050 but Mr Taylor said it did not "commit to targets without a very clear plan."

Your article's heading is not correct. There isn't any 'technology investment roadmap' yet. Angus Taylor released a 'discussion paper'. Please read the Australian Government announcement . ThisIsNotJournalism

mjrowland68 LisaMillar AlanKohler AngusTaylorMP Dom_Perrottet Australia East Coast gas? In decline. So much gas was squandered in LNG exports since JohnHoward's totally flawed energy white paper of June 2004

We don’t need toy power plants. We need the real thing. Build HELE coal plants and some nuclear.

Morons rusted onto fossil fuels. Loud grid can’t handle too many renewables! We need the power to shut them down!” Fix the grid stupid!

Vic government 'cozy up to China' as investment deadline approaches | Sky News AustraliaSky News contributor Caleb Bond says the Victorian government's pro-China stance 'is entirely in line' with their behaviour over the past few years.\n\nThe Australian is reporting “Victoria is locked in critical final stage negotiations with Beijing over investments worth billions of dollars at the same time as its Treasurer has savaged the Morrison government’s ‘vilification’ of China over trade and the COVID-19 pandemic'. \n\nThe deadline for Victoria to sign an investment roadmap, which ties the state to the communist giant, is just weeks away. \n\nMr Bond said 'the fact that the Victorian Labor government would still be pressing on with the Belt and Road under these circumstances is ridiculous”.\n\n“For them to criticise the federal government for being one of the few powers in the world actually happy to stand up to China at the moment is also ridiculous”. \n\nMr Bond also said the ALP were having difficulty maintaining a clear unified line held by all party members. \n\n“They’ve got the Victorian government saying we want to cozy up to China, they’ve got sections of the federal Labor party saying we need to go hard on China … and then you’ve got people like Kim Carr in the federal labor party saying we have to go soft on China”. \n\n\n Caleb Bond.......... 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 Nothing worse than appeasement.
