Play Travel is hoping to replicate the success of its backer Afterpay in enticing Millennial consumers to get through the coronavirus-induced squeeze on the travel sector | carawaters

Play Travel is hoping to replicate the success of its backer Afterpay in enticing Millennial consumers to get through the coronavirus-induced squeeze on the travel sector, with the start-up's founder Andrew Paykel saying the buy now, pay later model works just as well for paying for a holiday as it does for clothes.

AP Ventures boss and former Investec Australia senior banker Hein Vogel said Play was addressing some of the same problems as Afterpay. "Afterpay promotes many products to its customers and Play is one of the products that does get promoted, clearly there is an opportunity for Play to use the Afterpay product as well because for example Afterpay is available on Jetstar."

"We are a valid solution for people who still want to travel but giving them a payment choice that may suit them better post COVID-19," he said.

carawaters Sweet. Good luck, and great to see people innovating. However, what not pay the travel with a credit card and SplitIt over many installment plan with an increased interest free period.

carawaters Sweet good luck, love the innovation. However, why not pay with the travel with a credit card and use SplitIt over 'n' amount of installment of your own choosing (avoid credit fees and increase the interest free period)?

carawaters Yeah, go into debt for overseas holidays, this will surely end well.
