Ibrahim Omar, 45, who was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Monday pleaded not guilty to all 12 charges.
Ten of the charges were under Section 471 of the Penal Code, which is punishable under Section 465 of the same code for the offences.Two other charges were made under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009, which is punishable under Section 24 of the same Act. If convicted, he could face a maximum of 20 years in jail and a fine not less than RM10,000 or five times the amount of the bribe.
He was accused of committing seven of the offences in September last year in Putrajaya, while another five offences were alleged to have been committed in June this year in Kuala Lumpur. Judge Azura Alwi set bail at RM250,000 in one surety and set additional conditions for the accused to surrender his passport to the court, as well as to report to the MACC office in Putrajaya every month.
