The Trump administration is loaning Kodak $765 million to produce ingredients for prescription drugs -- something Kodak has never done before.

that the federal government will loan Eastman Kodak $765 million in taxpayer money to develop ingredients for generic drugs.for making you think all the world’s a sunny day?

Acetaminophen, for example, is America’s most widely used drug ingredient, found not just in namesake pills but also as a component of hundreds of cold, flu and allergy remedies. Nearly all of the world’s supply of it comes from China and India, with China accounting for roughly two-thirds of the total.when the COVID-19 pandemic erupted — that could severely impact Americans’ access to many prescription drugs.

It’s a given, therefore, that the undeniable benefits of domestic production — more jobs, better quality — come with a trade-off, and that’s higher consumer prices.William Comanor, a professor of health policy and management at UCLA, told me the average cost of a generic prescription in this country, with at least some ingredients manufactured abroad, is currently $26.That’s a 35% increase. That’s what Trump is putting on the table.

Would you be willing to pay significantly more for that wall-mounted flat screen if at least some of its production could be done domestically? Would you pay more for a car if its parts were manufactured here rather than Mexico? Kodak’s executive chairman, Jim Continenza, said Kodak will utilize its “vast infrastructure, deep expertise in chemicals manufacturing, and heritage of innovation and quality” to help restore “a reliable American pharmaceutical supply chain.”

Davidlaz I'm sure we will let a leftist tell us what is or isn't 'good economics' LOL

Davidlaz Under President Trump, The FDA has approved the largest number of generic drugs ever. Generics increase competition in the marketplace and lower the cost of prescription drugs for all Americans. In December 2018, year-end drug prices fell for the first time in nearly 50 years.

Davidlaz The question is not only can they, but also SHOULD they? Who’s the Trump donor the recipient of this grift

sdtips Davidlaz The Kodak deal was announced Tuesday but there was a large number of unusual Kodak transactions on Monday? Did Prez Blabbly tell his friends in advance?

Davidlaz Didn’t believe this until I saw it in black and white

Stocks making the biggest moves midday: 3M, McDonald's, Tesla, Eastman Kodak and moreThese are the stocks posting the largest moves in midday trading. Shame! Stock market reporters don’t understand the market. The initial down of Tesla was not because of the analyst’s call, rather it was because the whole market is down. Even the whole market was still down, by midday Tesla was $9.40 higher than yesterday’s closing. Why? What a joke.......
