Trevor Edwards resigned from Nike in 2018 after a 25-year stint with the athletic-wear giant.

of a national conversation regarding workplace inclusion, Edwards is leveraging his perspective on diversity in his work with different companies and organizations., Edwards understands the importance of diversity firsthand. After working in business development for Colgate-Palmolive for six years, Edwards came to Nike in 1992.

"I've heard throughout my career that finding talented people of color is more difficult — it's simply not true," Edwards said, adding that he and his partners study which pipelines diverse talent generally comes from. . to help organize a coalition of leaders to address racial equality across multiple industries.

Edwards challenges his clients to consider diversity beyond corporate positions. He champions a focus on the Black consumer, using Black or minority vendors, and investing in minority communities. Though much attention has been paid to new diversity and inclusion-specific corporate positions, the CEO is still the most important role in a company, especially when it comes to diversity, Edwards said.
