The government is hoping a resources boom will make the Northern Territory Australia's economic 'comeback capital', but some members of the business community aren't so sure.

In a normal dry season, Michelle Elliott runs a dinner cruise every night on the scenic Darwin Harbour.Some business owners are wary of the planBut this year, after COVID-19 closed her business altogether for two months, she's down to running only two or three cruises a week.

Other members of the NT's business community have labelled some of the government's plans to make the territory Australia's economic "comeback capital" as "fanciful". Chief Minister Michael Gunner is promising local businesses the NT could be Australia's "comeback capital" after COVID-19. He also thinks the high cost of transporting commodities from the NT — due to its remoteness — can be overcome.
