From WSJopinion: A pair of provisions in Joe Biden’s health-care plan would take 24 million people off employer coverage and cost $2.2 trillion over 10 years, writes ChrisJacobsHC

By Chris Jacobs Sept. 21, 2020 1:23 pm ET In the summer of 2008, the Obama-Biden presidential campaign ran the most-aired ad of the decade, “Unravel,” alleging that Sen. John McCain’s policy proposals would dismantle employer-based health coverage. Twelve years later, that ad takes on an ironic tone for President Obama’s vice president. As I outline in a new report, Joe Biden’s health plan could pull apart the system by which most Americans receive insurance.

The combination of lower premiums and deductibles would encourage significant switching from employer insurance to the exchanges. Virtually all households with incomes below 200% of the poverty line could save more than $100 a month, and some above that threshold would save, too.

Second, businesses could face higher taxes. Under ObamaCare, large firms that offer employer coverage face a per-worker tax of approximately $4,060 in 2021 if their workers receive federal exchange subsidies. Unless Congress modifies this employer mandate—a change Mr. Biden hasn’t publicly supported—businesses whose employees voluntarily switch out of employer coverage will face an estimated $481 billion in new taxes over 10 years.

opinion chrisjacobsHC And everyone gets screwed with Drumpf’s No Health Plan - why do you people continue to pander to a mentally ill person who lies 24-7- breaks laws regularly , cages children, caused 200,000 people to die and flouts the US Constitution daily?

opinion chrisjacobsHC Or we could lower the cost of healthcare. 5k for an MRI is totally ridiculous. 55k for heart surgery. Let's focus on the real problem. America has one of if not the highest costs. Bring down cost which drops insurance which means people who work low wage can have healthcare.

opinion chrisjacobsHC 👇

opinion chrisjacobsHC We’re the only country in the world that ties health care to employers. Not working really well.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Biden only flavours those business moguls n sell the US to the communist again

opinion chrisjacobsHC The Republicans ll have no health plan but are willing to gut the AffordableCareAct which guarantees coverage of pre-existing conditions facts please opinion - still waiting for non-right wing editorials

opinion chrisjacobsHC sure he did not say 24 zillion people...teleprompter joe can't read

opinion chrisjacobsHC Well here we go. And ignoring the fact that my company health plan is completely at the mercy of the accountants these days. Just saw that we completely eliminated the retiree health plan for people in Medicare. Step 1. Next step is cut back eligible employees. It’s happening

1stbornAmerican opinion chrisjacobsHC ...and be illegal to boot.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Attention, this is the wsj editorial page, take with a huge grain of salt.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Tying health care to employers has always been a bad idea, but if someone wants to decouple that at least be honest about the goal and address the implications.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Murdoch rag, tRump & his RW lunies would eliminate ACA, cut Medicaid and Medicare! Almost as effective in killing people as the TrumpVirus

opinion chrisjacobsHC Give a complete story for heaven's sake. NO ONE WILL BE DEPENDENT ON THEIR EMPLOYER FOR HEALTH INSURANCE. NO ONE SHOULD BE.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Doubt it!

opinion chrisjacobsHC Yes, because it's all about protecting company health plans for the satisfied. The hell with the 30 million uninsured or underinsured. We've got ours. The WSJ ought to have Publication by and for the self-satisfied on its masthead.

opinion chrisjacobsHC My company healthcare plan is a joke as is anyone’s who I’ve talked to about it. Insurance providers don’t sell healthcare insurance they sell catastrophic disaster insurance since they don’t cover anything unless you’re literally dying. It’s a scam

opinion chrisjacobsHC I’m just so confused about the people who LOVE their company health plan?

opinion chrisjacobsHC We have the Government’s healthcare model. It is called Veterans Affairs healthcare. Government run anything has proven extremely costly, completely inefficient and without concern for customer support.

opinion chrisjacobsHC He has my vote. A savings compared to this administrations spending.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Sounds like a disaster

opinion chrisjacobsHC Well still waiting on that great healthcare plan that trump / republicans promised us in 2016 to replace Obamacare

opinion chrisjacobsHC Yes he will finish what Obamacare started - a full transition to government single payer.

opinion chrisjacobsHC You mean employers won't be used to subsidize plans the government can just pay for instead? Le gasp.

mschlapp opinion chrisjacobsHC Congratulations on the placement, Chris!

opinion chrisjacobsHC Swamp Media Show This.. Show It 😱👀👀

opinion chrisjacobsHC The country isn’t safe with another minute of failed, corrupt, incompetent, lying and undignified Trump. The rest we’ll out.

opinion chrisjacobsHC realDonaldTrump is in court right now fighting to keep millions of Americans off healthcare with pre existing conditions. Full stop.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Our voting rights, women’s right, freedom of assembly and protest ain’t safe under a Republican dictatorship....

mschlapp opinion chrisjacobsHC I’ll good honest God-fearing legal US citizens don’t believe a word that the O Bidens and the rest of the deep state criminals chief justice John Roberts needs to be investigated and should have to step down today his name is on Epstein‘s flight log why hasn’t somebody done somet

opinion chrisjacobsHC There is a reason why this is in the opinion section

opinion chrisjacobsHC Joe...wake up and get a clue... 👍🏻🇺🇸👍🏻...the American worker doesn’t want socialism!!!

opinion chrisjacobsHC And here comes the WSJ

opinion chrisjacobsHC We just socialized Wall Street and these cats are worried about this.

opinion chrisjacobsHC But Trump can take away our insurance?

opinion chrisjacobsHC No wonder he rudely refuses to take tough questions from reporters.

opinion chrisjacobsHC You know what's interesting though? He has a plan. Unlike Republicans, who's plan has been 'coming' for YEARS.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Sorry, but Jacobs is not an unbiased observer.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Bullshit and you know it.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Another POS opinion from has made it patently obvious that you need to be muted.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Good. Employer Health coverage is crap. Gets more and more expensive and covers less and less.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Nor is your retirement health plan that u worked 4!

opinion chrisjacobsHC he's a 🤡

opinion chrisjacobsHC That why the Russian Interfering with his election they know it will cost the taxpayers big money l so glad President Trump good friend the Russian.

opinion chrisjacobsHC What’s the Trump Plan? Oh that’s right, he doesn’t have one. Never has, never will. TrumpKnewPeopleDied

opinion chrisjacobsHC If you see that conservatively one is more a proponent to your will of gaining who they know say we as men do pay special to our citizen country affair of the two giving a special thanks to those who live to see this year in what will be has been dead in all the years before

opinion chrisjacobsHC We said if how we choose the we in father the easier way for being us is nothing pleasurable in course he will turn behind those easily gained in pretending the man is on another level of being there with your evil boy is nothing but a perfect admission of the holes in a stern

opinion chrisjacobsHC Joe Biden is all wrong in all aspects of his decision. This is more disastrous. Obama care has put many working people just to pay outrageous monthly premium into hardship. Can you imagine the illegals have more benefit than tax payers, under Biden and dems?

opinion chrisjacobsHC Honey my HEALTH isn’t safe in this Trump Presidency RIGHT NOW. I think Ill take my chances with Biden whatever his plan is- Trump had NO PLAN to protect Americans from COVID-19. Trump has been promising healthcare since the 2016 election! Where is it?

opinion chrisjacobsHC This is why I will not vote for any Democrat. We pay for our own plan. I lived in Europe with socialize medicine. It was awful. For heart attack 17 days and hundreds of shots. Not count going to 3 hospitals to get blocked arteries done. People die younger

opinion chrisjacobsHC We just spent 4 trillion in 3 months on covid bail out,we have the money

opinion chrisjacobsHC Still, it must be cheaper than Frump’s continuing destruction of America...

opinion chrisjacobsHC WSJ pursuing the full court press of BS now, I guess. Just think, maybe one day you’ll be the Fox News of print.

opinion chrisjacobsHC WSJ op ed is still looking for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, cooko for coco puffs.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Really? Lies. Fake news. Crap.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Golly if this were true, it would be horrible . . . but for the alternative.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Considering our current unemployed rate due to the pandemic, maybe decoupling employment and healthcare is more important than ever.

opinion chrisjacobsHC So maybe we should clean the slate & start over. How about Universal Health Care for all?

opinion chrisjacobsHC The best spent Trillions!!!

opinion chrisjacobsHC No need to worry. It won’t happen in this timeline.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Bullshit

opinion chrisjacobsHC Statistically, Tax payers who owe more than their net worth want the government to provide social welfare programs such as free healthcare, etc. —and they also happen to be the least educated & least religious demographic.

opinion chrisjacobsHC But he won't raise taxes on people making less than $400K a year.... 🤪

opinion chrisjacobsHC Trump wants to get rid of the current system but has no new plan.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Trump’s plan from 3 years ago is the best. Best plan ever. Wonderful. What is it again ? Oh yea, vapor ware...

opinion chrisjacobsHC No thanks. We can't afford this!

opinion chrisjacobsHC What we expect to hear from the likes of you and your ilk. What part of ACA do you like. Oh ya none of it if your honest. The only way you win is at the cost of middle class America and Putin.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Employer coverage is what keeps you locked down in the job you hate to go to everyday because you can't take the chance of not having health coverage while you look for a better gig.

opinion chrisjacobsHC gop gave away over 3 trillion in 3 months.

opinion chrisjacobsHC So...um...our choice is between losing our employer-based health insurance and having it replaced with other insurance OR mushroom clouds. 😳

opinion chrisjacobsHC So being uninsured by Trump or dead from COVID 19 is the healthier option? 🙄

opinion chrisjacobsHC In deed,he is too old to know everything. For an American,do you believe fainthearted man can get fair lady?

opinion chrisjacobsHC Did you do an “opinion” piece on Trumps Health care plan? Oh wait, you can’t, he doesn’t have one. He just want to dismantle the current which has does fine for me and my family for years.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Oh don't worry with trump lawsuit and his stolen scotus justice he will take Healthcare from 130 million ppl lol

opinion chrisjacobsHC In all fairness I’m more then thankful for the va and assurance every month that even with this coverage was not enough to explain why sometimes going to work for an employer that offers group insurance did save me something we somehow expect do we all break our arms and legs

opinion chrisjacobsHC Sounds like he’s the pro-business candidate...saving them money! Ok, I’ll vote for Joe.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Trump don’t have a health plan at all, in the SC case coming up in November, the healthcare plan in place now will be history. But yes you are a Loser! Report that.

opinion chrisjacobsHC It sure got trashed during the Obama Biden years.

opinion chrisjacobsHC So? Not your money.

opinion chrisjacobsHC 😂

opinion chrisjacobsHC Not safe in a trump economy either as 10 million people who were laid off in the pandemic downturn were thrown off their employer related health plans. Where do they turn for health insurance amid the pandemic?

opinion chrisjacobsHC WSJ’s op-Ed page didn’t seem that perturbed at Trump’s $2T tax cut for corporations and the wealthiest people in America, so maybe we just shouldn’t listen to their opinion on this one, how about that? What’s good for Rupert Murdoch isn’t necessarily great for the rest of us.

opinion chrisjacobsHC Serious question, why don’t companies want to save millions by shifting the burden of healthcare to the taxpayers? They feel a camaraderie with the insurance salesman?

opinion chrisjacobsHC Read the damn article, this is great. Savings and more stability when your healthcare isn’t tied to your job, why the fear, click-bait headline?

opinion chrisjacobsHC Good.

opinion chrisjacobsHC At this point they could say the national debt is one hundred eleventy hornet frogs because we are never getting it paid off anyways.

opinion chrisjacobsHC From Wall Street Journal 'OPINION'... don't trust this source.

opinion chrisjacobsHC You guys are still at this shit?

opinion chrisjacobsHC Meanwhile, nothing is safe in a Trump Presidency.
