Batu Gajah OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the housewife, 20, who is nine months pregnant, and her lorry attendant husband, 29, were caught at a house in Desa Changkat yesterday at about 12.15am.
The pouch, which belonged to a shop assistant, was recovered but the money, about RM130, was gone, said ACP Ahmad Adnan. “Both confessed to committing the offence. The husband will be remanded until Wednesday while the wife was given bail, ” he said. CCTV recordings showed that the woman and her husband had gone into the mini-market at about 3.45pm on Saturday.“She then went to the back of the mini-market and hid the item in her clothes before walking out of the premises with her husband, ” he said.
“The shop assistant was stocking the shelves during the incident and only discovered that his pouch was missing when he wanted to take some money out from it to buy drinks, ” he added.“The woman had a theft record while the husband has offences for house trespass, theft and rioting with weapons, ” he said.
