Senior advisers to Premier Gladys Berejiklian raised concerns about the government issuing a $1 million grant to Hunters Hill Council because it had launched legal action against the merger process

Senior advisers to Premier Gladys Berejiklian raised concerns about the government issuing a $1 million grant to a Sydney council because it had launched legal action against the merger process.

The note went on to recommend the council should receive the funding as nearby Lane Cove Council, which had also challenged the merger process, was now receiving less. The fresh insight into the handling of the Coalition's controversial $250 million tied-grants round of the Stronger Communities Fund came with the recovery of missing documents from the Premier's office and a stunning admission by Ms Berejiklian on Thursday that pork barrelling was not illegal.

A NSW government spokesperson has repeatedly said all funding allocations followed established guidelines and delivered "significant benefits to local communities across the state". The advice note also said the City of Parramatta would stop legal action against Hornsby Shire Council over boundary changes if the government gave it $16 million from the fund for a pool upgrade in Epping, which the note attributed to Ms Lau recommended undertaking.has previously reported the government tried to withhold documents that show bureaucrats concealing Ms Berejiklian's involvement in the scheme.

“Fresh insight into the handling of the Coalition's controversial $250m tied-grants...” Wasn’t the total $252m? But what’s $2m anyway in the scheme of things. A bottle of Grange would be another story though. NSW you rock 🤘

Has GladysB found her kryptonite? Are there any 'journalists' in this country with an attention span long enough to follow all these corruption scandals up? We'll see. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
