To continue supporting businesses amid the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Navotas City government extended the deadline of business permit renewal and tax payment for registered computer shops in 2021.

Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco signed City Ordinance No. 2020-51, allowing business taxpayers to settle their business taxes, without surcharge, penalty or interest until February 28, 2021.

Tiangco also signed City Ordinance No. 2020-52, extending the renewal of business permit and payment of business taxes of computer shops, Internet cafes, pisonet, and other similar establishments until they are allowed to operate. “Businesses are still reeling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many have folded, others have been trying to stay afloat. We hope to give them much-needed reprieve by offering them more time to settle their obligations,” Tiangco said in a statement released on Wednesday.

“Keeping businesses alive means helping employees retain their source of income and be able to support their family. We will always strive to give as much assistance as we can to enable our people to thrive amid these challenging times,” he added. Navotas has also granted tax refund to taxpayers who have paid surcharges, penalties, and interests on all local taxes and fees due and assessed from September 14, 2020 until the effectivity of City Ordinance 2020-45.
