Staff shortages threaten Welsh hospitality industry

The trade body that represents businesses from hotels to fish and chip shops, UKHospitality Cymru, said the crisis threatens Wales' economic recovery.

Simon James, of Atlantic, said that was making even unemployed people wary of taking up a job in the sector, in case they lost it again and then had to wait for benefit claims again. "I know of a really respected top chef who has been working as a carpenter and is staying with that rather than returning to the kitchen," he said. One former chef is staying working as a carpenter because work-life balance was more attractive

Boyfriend of a someone we know was a HeadChef in a AA rosette 🏵 restaurant. He now works in a fishing rod factory 🎣 - Less hours, better terms, more time off and better money 🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately, While ever furlough is still in play people are not willing to come back to work

Shitty hours for shitty pay...

Pay them what they’re worth then, it’s been on the horizon for a while. 0 hr contracts, appalling working conditions, hours and terms for chefs compared to other accredited skilled labour. Not to mention the over saturation of chains who make the most of those terms.

6million on uni credit, through unemployment or under employed up wages fill the jobs ,pretty simple really, or close down.
