Malcolm and Lucy Turnbull have been revealed as investors in an American technology company supplying police forces with a new generation of cloud-based software to manage emergency responses and investigations.
Mr Turnbull said the systems allowed police and other agencies to bring together troves of complex information into an accessible and cloud-based hub. Mrs Turnbull said the more user-friendly systems – coupled with Mark43’s focus on community engagement – could be especially beneficial for police interactions with victims of domestic and family violence.“If you can actually build a police incident reporting and record management system, and add it to a community model, that is actually going to really improve, I think, outcomes particularly in the field of family and domestic violence,” she said.
“Interestingly, there was a young woman police officer from the Northern Territory Police who had actually taken it on herself, just using an Excel spreadsheet, to start to integrate this kind of data,” he said.
