Telecommunications giant PLDT is doubling its existing total network capacity from 55 terabits per second to 92 Tbps by the end of 2021, it said on Wednesday, September 1.
The target is more than triple its capacity in 2020. PLDT said customers would have faster connectivity and easier access to bandwidth-heavy services such as video streaming. "We are increasing this backbone capacity ahead of the demand as doing so ultimately allows us to enable our fellow Filipinos to thrive and secure a better future," said PLDT and Smart Communications president and chief executive officer Al Panlilio.
