KaizerChiefs beat OrlandoPirates 2-1 in the 175th Soweto Derby in a DSTV premiership match to claim maximum points and bragging rights at the Orlando stadium in Soweto.

The win moves Chiefs, who won the first round fixture of the league with the same scoreline, to second above Royal AM on the table.

The match was preceded by drama with fans staging a protest outside the stadium demanding that the league allows spectators back into matches.They both needed the three points toAmakhosi had won the first-round fixture of the league by two goals to one last year. They started this encounter well and had a chance to score on this occasion with defender, Eric Mathoho, missing a good chance.Reeve Frosler beat keeper, Siyabonga Mpontshane, after receiving a pass from Bernard Parker.Striker, Kwame Peprah’s header beat keeper, Brandon Petersen at close range but the Ghanaian was offside.Amakhosi continued from where they left on in the first half after the break.

However, Pirates turned defence into attack on this occasion. Thembinkosi Lorch found Thabang Monare on the left flank with Peprah finishing Monare’s ball for the goal.But Chiefs dealt with the danger.Terrence Dzvukamanja came close to equalising late in the match but Petersen denied him with Chiefs winning the match.
