While tech companies wrestle with geopolitical and economic forces, forecasts predict strong consumer demand will continue to fuel high growth rates in some corners of IT, says the Financial Times' Richard Waters.

But it was followed by a near 10 per cent surge in IT spending last year, and Gartner is predicting that the US$4.3 trillion global IT market will expand at a faster rate than in the years leading up to the pandemic, with a growth of 4 per cent this year rising to 6.6 per cent in 2024.
