Groups of foreign nationals stood in despair on Wednesday morning as they stared at the remnants of what used to be their wares after the Yeoville Market went up in flames on Tuesday. | ntwaagae

With smoke still billowing from one of the stalls, the group pondered how they could resuscitate their businesses. The fire was extinguished by firefighters before it could spread to more stalls.A woman who identified herself as Sylvia said she and her sister were woken up by phone calls from people alerting them to the fire.

"We were told that my sister's shop was burning. We rushed here and saw a huge flame ravaging our shops. We were told that the fire was allegedly caused by people who are against foreigners.A vendor stands inside the gutted Yeoville Market."We are pleading for assistance. My sister has lost almost R50 000 worth of stock. She doesn't have insurance and money to restart her business," said Sylvia.

ntwaagae This is very cruel, people can be so evil, why this?

ntwaagae What goes around comes back around, the result is coming and is it not so far. Broke what law We were born wit so much hate for any foreign black person at the extend that soon we will be asking for a breathing fee because then they are not allowed to breath our oxygen, neh!!

ntwaagae Absolute barbaric action. I am sure Bheki Cele doesn't care at all. Instead of going after the criminals, drug dealers, after the corrupt ANC politicians and the corrupt Home affairs and border officials who let illegal people into the country - the criminals burnt a market.

ntwaagae They were not supposed to be at that market. They are breaking the law.
