Real estate agents have accused Daft, the property listings website, of abusing its dominant position in the Irish market, the Business Post has learned.

The Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers made an official complaint last week to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission making a number of allegations.

In correspondence sent to Ipav members, Pat Davitt, chief executive of the body, claimed that Daft had “abused its dominant position”.

THE HYPOCRISY OF ESTATE AGENTS - PLAYING THE VICTIM EAs hold a dominant position (bidders, bidding limits, mortgage/cash buyers) in negotiations with ordinary people buying a home - a position often abused (misleading adverts/news articles) pushing people to overspend

I'd do away with estate agents and daft altogether if the end result was more affordable housing and less international leech funds
