Many of those moves crossed state lines. Florida netted roughly $24 billion in income reported by new tax filers residing within its borders. Texas hauled in a net $6.4 billion from that inflow, while Arizona , North Carolina and Tennessee rounded out the top five states for income reported by newly minted residents.
Those counties lost tax filers with a combined $102 million in annual income to Teton in 2019 and 2020. They averaged about $714,500 in annual income apiece in those reporting years, about eight times Teton’s median household income.
